Nanette Meyer

Share my fundraising effort with your network and let's beat dementia, together.

Help me raise money in honour of my Sister , Kathleen Meyer and the 421,000 Australians living with dementia.

On Sunday, 9 February, I'm taking part in Tamworth's Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support Australians impacted by dementia. This is a cause close to my heart and I would love your support.

Please make a donation to support my efforts and help us reach our goal to beat dementia.

Not many people know, but dementia is Australia's second-leading cause of death. By 2058 it's expected that over 800,000 Australians will have dementia. But we can change this.

All money I raise will support the work of Dementia Australia and help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure.

Together we can achieve a lot. Your donation would mean the world to me.

Thanks for your support!

I'm $329.60 away from becoming a Silver Level Fundraiser. Will you help get me there?

My Updates

Frontotemporal Dementia

Kathleen, one of my sisters has Frontotemporal Dementia (very different to most dementia types and alzheimers) which affects younger people. It is difficult to get services for her as she in not 65 yet.
Kathy has had some very challenging behaviour changes in the last couple months and it is very distressing for her and us who look after her. We have had to find medications that will help with calming. The slightest thing can set her off as she is unable to communicate what she wants to say, the words are in her brain but sometimes the message does not get through ,so major frustration happens.
Kathy still knows everyone but sometimes she may call people by the wrong name but not often. There is nothing wrong with her hearing or vision and she can spot people she knows from a distance.
I hope this has helped you to understand a little more about her condition and yes she will continue to lose ability to do everyday things.

Thank you to my sponsors
