Memory Walk & Jog Participation Terms & Conditions
Memory Walk & Jog is organised by Dementia & Alzheimer's Australia Limited (Dementia Australia). By registering to attend a Memory Walk & Jog Flagship event, Pop Up event, Virtual event or by participating in a My Way event (collective the Events and Individually the Event), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
General Terms & Conditions
- 1. I declare, as a condition of entry into the 2025 Memory Walk & Jog that I am not aware of any illness, injury, physical disability or impairment which may cause me or others illness, injury or death during or as a consequence of event participation.
- The decision to participate is entirely my own and I accept all risks associated with participation in the event, including but not limited to loss of life or permanent injury.
- I, for myself and my heirs and executors, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the event organisers, sponsors, promoters, service providers and each of their agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and all other persons associated with the event, for all my liabilities, claims, actions or damages that I may have against them arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in this event.
- I agree that my entry into all Memory Walk & Jog events are non-transferable and that no other person is permitted to participate in the event in my place. I agree that I must not sell (or offer to sell) my entry into the event or otherwise transfer my entry into the event for any form of compensation.
- I acknowledge that refunds of entry fees will not be issued for change of mind or inability to attend. Refunds prior to the event may be considered in special circumstances, which includes where a participant suffers from a medical or personal event that prevents that person from being able to participate in the Event. To apply for a refund contact your allocated event manager/coordinator/executive with appropriate supporting documentation. This person will introduce themselves to you via email after registration.
- I understand that my registration pack, or any other printed materials, will not be posted outside of Australia.
- I acknowledge that the Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager have the right to cancel, postpone, change the structure and/or change the location of the event at any time. The event may be cancelled, postponed, have a change of structure and/or change the location for any reasons (at the sole discretion of Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager). In the event of cancellation, postponement, have a change of structure or location there will be no refund of entry fee or donation(s) unless otherwise determined by Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager in their sole discretion and the cancelled event may not be re-scheduled. Any decision to cancel or change an Event will be posted to the event website and/or official social media channels.
- I consent to the publication and/or use in any form of media whatsoever of my:
- name;
- race result;
- image;
- voice;
- event result and applicable age bracket;
- information concerning my dementia diagnosis or that of a family member/carer.
(the Information)
- I consent to Dementia Australia and /or the Event Manager publishing the Information in Australia in any medium including:
- Television;
- radio broadcast;
- newspapers (including online), magazines or books;
- other traditional and social media;
- Dementia Australia publications and training materials;
- Internet, wire service and/or email news service;
- Dementia Australia websites, including the Memory Walk & Jog website; and
- Dementia Australia promotional materials.
- I accept that the Information may be published beyond the life of the current Event and that as a result the Information may be used to promote future events and provide historical references at the discretion of Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager
- I certify that I am 18 years or older, or that I am the parent/legal guardian of the participant who is under the age of 18 years, and I have read this document and fully understand it. As a parent or legal guardian, I agree to these Terms and Conditions for and on behalf of the participant.
- I consent to Dementia Australia entering my personal details contained on this entry form into a database which will be used for the administration of the event, including to SMS relevant information to me if I have provided a mobile phone number. I also consent to my personal details being used by Dementia Australia events for future marketing and promotional purposes.
- If I am a team leader or registering multiple people, I certify that:
- I have provided all people on my registration with a physical or electronic copy of these Terms and Conditions;
- My team members have acknowledged in writing to me that they agree to these Terms and Conditions and I have retained a copy of that consent;
- Each of my team members has authorised me to register on their behalf;
- I and my team will abide by these Terms and Conditions.
- I accept and agree to abide by directions and instructions given by Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager or Event staff and managers, and to abide by the current national and relevant state government regulations including but not limited to any instruction:
- to enforce social distancing measures,
- have my temperature checked,
- to respond questions relating to COVID-19 upon my arrival and in the lead up to the event to ensure the safety of others,
- to sign in prior or on the event day,
- To sign out on event day upon leaving the event site,
- alter or vary my start time.
- I acknowledge that Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager or Event staff and managers may remove me from any Event area and/or exclude me from participation in an Event:
- if my behaviour is inappropriate, offensive, or abusive to others;
- if I do not follow any directions regarding COVID-19 guidelines or other health related matters;
- if my behaviour threatens to or does cause damage to any property;
- on medical or health and safety grounds (including to prevent possible harm, illness or injury to myself or any other person);
- to prevent or arrest any form of unauthorised marketing, including ambush marketing;
- if consumption of drugs and/or alcohol is suspected as the use of drugs and alcohol is prohibited at this event;
- I breach any of these Terms and Conditions.
- If I bring a dog to an Event I acknowledge and will abide by the following rules and guidelines:
- Dogs not registered for the event will not be allowed on site.
- I agree to take full and total responsibility for my dog at all times. My dog is not a danger to people nor does he/she have a history of aggression or biting.
- I understand that there may be people present on the day of Memory Walk & Jog who are elderly, frail and some who have been diagnosed with dementia. I understand that my dog cannot be permitted to become a hazard to these or other people at any time.
- I agree to keep my dog restrained on a lead at all times. I understand that dogs and dog leads can become trip hazards and agree to ensure that my dog and lead do not become one. I agree that if my dog shows any unusual behaviour or signs of aggression, I will remove him/her from the area immediately without being prompted by event staff to do so.
- The event organisers hold the discretion to at any time require the dog and participant to be removed from site.
- I hereby waive and release Dementia Australia and any other organisation or individual associated with the event, from any injury or damage resulting from the action of my dog, and I expressly assume the risk of any such damage or injury to any party whatsoever while attending the event.
- I will clean up after my dog and bring my own bags.
- I will bring water for my dog.
- I understand that dogs can only take part in the walk or jog, and will not run with my dog.
- I declare that all the information supplied by me for registration is true and correct.
Terms and Conditions Relating to Memory Walk & Jog Flagship Events
Memory Walk & Jog host multiple events where participants can be in person and take part and follow a pre-defined course. By registering to attend, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions in addition to the General Terms and Conditions set out above.
- I understand that I must follow the approved course, observe traffic rules and obey all directions and instructions given by event officials and course marshals. I acknowledge that I must wear the official chest bib corresponding to the registration made in my name on my chest so that the allotted number can be seen for the duration of the run.
- I understand that no vehicle may be used in the Event including but not limited to: roller skates, rollerblades, handcycles, geared or motorised vehicles, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, or accessories and I will not bring or allow my team to bring, such items to the Event.
- Any merchandise to be collected on the day at a Flagship Event should be collected from the Information or Merchandise Tent. You will need to provide a voucher, found inside your welcome pack, as proof of your entitlement to free merchandise.
Terms and Conditions Relating to Memory Walk & Jog Pop Up Events
Memory Walk & Jog host multiple Pop Up events where participants can be in person and take part. There is no pre-defined course. By registering to attend, I agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions in addition to the Memory Walk & Jog Participation Terms & Conditions (above).
- I understand that there is no pre-defined course and will not be marked or have check in points.
- I agree that I must observe traffic rules and obey all directions and instructions given by local authority’s and event officials
- I understand that although there is no pre-defined course Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager may suggest a short course to follow. Although Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager may have suggested a short course, that course will not be monitored or supervised by Dementia Australia and/or the Event Manager and I accept any risk associated with following the suggested course.
- I understand that no vehicle may be used in the Event including but not limited to: roller skates, rollerblades, handcycles, geared or motorised vehicles, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, or accessories and I will not bring or allow my team to bring, such items to the Event.
- Any merchandise to be collected on the day at a Pop Up event should be collected from the designated area provided. You will need to provide a voucher or approved confirmation, as proof of your entitlement to free merchandise.
Terms & Conditions Relating to Hosting a MyWay Memory Walk
- The decision to hold a MyWay Memory Walk & Jog is entirely my own and I accept all risks associated with the event, including but not limited to the safety of participants.
- I agree to abide by current government regulations and will follow the relevant national, state and/or territory law, regulations and guidelines. I will enforce these regulations including, but not limited to the following:
- conduct temperature checks;
- ask questions relating to COVID-19 upon participant arrival and in the lead up to the event to ensure the safety of others;
- sign participants in prior or on the event day and retain those records;
- sign participants out on event day upon leaving the event site and retain those records;
- alter the start time or have separate individual start times;
- provide Dementia Australia and/or an Event Manager with any information or records relating to the MyWay Memory Walk & Jog event conducted by me.
- I accept responsibility to comply with all the relevant laws and regulations, including following WH&S requirements and obtaining any permits, licences and insurance required for MyWay Memory Walk & Jog event.
- I acknowledge that I can speak to the Memory Walk & Jog team at Dementia Australia if I need assistance.
- I acknowledge that I will need written authority from Dementia Australia to fundraise before I start collecting money for Dementia Australia through my MyWay Memory Walk & Jog. Such authority can be provided only by Dementia Australia or the Event Manager.
- Any Dementia Australia intellectual property, including the Dementia Australia logo and name, Memory Walk & Jog logo and name, MyWay Memory Walk & Jog logo and name or other branded materials, shall only be used with prior written authorisation from Dementia Australia and must be sought in each circumstance. This intellectual property must be used in accordance with guidelines (e.g. brand guidelines) and can not be changed or altered in any way without the prior written approval of Dementia Australia.
- Any public announcement, statement or media release in any form or on any platform that mentions participation in Dementia Australia related activities or campaigns, including Memory Walk & Jog or MyWay Memory Walk & Jog, or any other form of partnership or association with any of the aforementioned brands requires the prior written approval of Dementia Australia.
- I will obtain the written approval of the Memory Walk & Jog team before any local sponsors for my event are confirmed to ensure appropriateness of the brand alignment, and to ensure I understand the sponsors’ logos may be used in association with the event.
- I acknowledge that the Memory Walk & Jog team may be able to assist me with social and/or traditional media for my event if I give them sufficient time and information.
- I acknowledge and agree that:
- By organising this event, I am making a commitment to hold this as a fundraising event, not just an awareness event.
- Dementia Australia cannot pay for my event costs.
- I must advise the Memory Walk & Jog team of the percentage, dollar amount or expected net proceeds of the funds raised for Dementia Australia through my MyWay Memory Walk & Jog, prior to commencing organisation of my event.
- The Memory Walk & Jog team are there to help me maximise my fundraising efforts and that I can contact them for support/advice.
- Expenses incurred in running my MyWay Memory Walk & Jog are not to be taken from funds raised for Dementia Australia without prior written from Dementia Australia.
- Any and all money raised must be remitted to Dementia Australia within 30 days following the end of the event, except with the prior approval of the Dementia Australia.
- Total income and expenditure for the event should be submitted along with a cheque, money order or direct deposit for the funds raised using your paying in form. These details are required to comply with the NSW Charitable Fundraising Act 1991. Cheques or money orders are to be payable to Dementia Australia.
- Dementia Australia will not supervise and bears no responsibility for the management or conduct of the fundraising event I organise.
- It is my responsibility to conduct the fundraising event in a manner which upholds Dementia Australia’s and Memory Walk & Jog’s integrity, professionalism, mission and vision.
- If requested by Dementia Australia I will provide still and/or video images in digital format photos, video, estimated participant numbers and testimonials about my MyWay Memory Walk & Jog to be used to encourage others to run similar events.
- It is my responsibility to have obtained appropriate permission for use of any images or branding before providing that material to the Dementia Australia team.
- I acknowledge that Dementia Australia accepts no responsibility for quotes, figures, videos, photos or other information published or used in any marketing materials or other publications that have been provided to Dementia Australia by me.
- It is my responsibility to notify the Dementia Australia team if the details of my MyWay Memory Walk & Jog change.

Hosting or participating in a MyWay Memory Walk & Jog in no way constitutes a partnership between my organisation or group and Dementia Australia, or sponsorship of its sub-brands Memory Walk & Jog or MyWay Memory Walk & Jog, and that no statement suggesting this can be published in any way or in any form without the prior written approval of the Dementia Australia.

My organisational logo must not be placed alongside the Dementia Australia, Memory Walk & Jog or MyWay Memory Walk & Jog logo in a way that could be misinterpreted as sponsorship or partnership with Dementia Australia.

I must not use my organisations’ name to title the event in any way, for example “Joe Blogg Carpets Memory Walk & Jog” or “MyWay Memory Walk & Jog presented by Joe Blogg Carpets”. If I am unable to call my event simply “Town Name MyWay Memory Walk & Jog” I must obtain the prior written approval from Dementia Australia about the name I wish to use before it is announced.
Online Donations
- Your donation will be one off and will go towards support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
- Your donation will be processed securely by Stripe. The Memory Walk & Jog website does not store credit card numbers.
- Dementia Australia is a deductible gift receiving charity, registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible. After donating, you will receive a receipt by email.
Sharing your story
By submitting your story to Memory Walk & Jog, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
- In accordance with these Terms and Conditions, I consent to the publication of the Information.
- I accept that Dementia Australia may make grammatical changes to any written information I provide to Dementia Australia. Any changes that they wish to make to the content or messaging of your story will be confirmed with you via email prior to publication.
- Dementia Australia will endeavour to use your story but does not guarantee that it will be shared on the website or other media.
Social media Terms & Conditions

The Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages are designed to provide news, information and facilitate discussion.

The pages are generally monitored from Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm, excluding public holidays.

The Memory Walk & Jog team at Dementia Australia reserves the right to amend or delete any material, including derogatory, offensive or defamatory material posted on the pages. Dementia Australia also reserves the right to delete advertising material or material containing conflicting brands. Fans of these sites are reminded that offensive language will be deleted.

We want to provide a safe and open space for people living with dementia, their carers, friends and families to fundraise for Dementia Australia and to reach out for support and access advice. For that reason, we will also remove any unhelpful or misleading comments and posts.

The Memory Walk & Jog team at Dementia Australia reserves the right to remove or block any individual from the Facebook or Instagram page.

Where a private Facebook group refers to a Virtual Memory Walk & Jog event, it gives suggested dates for the event only. All participants can choose a date and time that suits them. Uluru

Full payment must be made (including both first instalment and second instalmnet) to be eligible to attend Uluru Memory Walk & Jog. The Memory Walk & Jog team at Dementia Australia reserves the right to decline your registration if you do not pay the full payment. No refunds will be permitted.

Each individual participant of Uluru Memory Walk & Jog agrees that they will raise a minimum of $4,000.00. The Memory Walk & Jog team at Dementia Australia reserves the right to decline your registration if you do not raise the minimum fundraising target.

All money raised as part of fundraising, belongs to Dementia Australia. No refunds will be permitted.

Each participant of Uluru Memory Walk & Jog is responsible for paying for their flights to and from Uluru.

Travel insurnace is recommended. Each participant of Uluru Memory Walk & Jog is repsonsible for paying for their own travel insurance.

Any additional activities (out of the Uluru Memory Walk & Jog inclusions) are to be arranged and paid for by participants.

Covid Special Terms & Conditions
- I will ensure that I am following the relevant National, State and/or Territory laws, regulations and guidelines relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- I will not participate in any Events if, in the past 14 days:
- I have undergone a COVID-19 test;
- I have come into contact with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
- I have come into contact with someone who is a close contact of a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
- I have experienced a temperature, flu-like symptoms, repertory symptoms, a sore/dry throat or a persistent cough or any other symptom that is associated with COVID-19.
- I accept that I am not entitled to a full refund of any entry or other fee paid to Dementia Australia in circumstances where an Event is cancelled as a direct result of a requirement of any Local, State or Federal agency arising out of or associated with the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Notwithstanding clause 3 herein, Dementia Australia will endeavour to offer a refund of part of any entry or other fee paid to Dementia Australia however such an offer will only be made where Dementia Australia has covered the costs of organising the cancelled Event.
Ultimate Raffle

Entry is open to: all residents of Australia - NSW, QLD, VIC, ACT and SA residents only for online sales, excluding employees and any agency associated with the promotion of the lottery or conducting of the draw, and their immediate families. Entrants must be 18 years or over to purchase tickets.

A person may enter the lottery on more than one occasion in accordance with the procedure specified in these terms and conditions, although Dementia Australia reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse to accept any single entry.

Entry into the lottery costs: 1 ticket for $10, 3 tickets for $20, 8 tickets for $50, 20 tickets for $100, 50 tickets for $200, 120 tickets for $40.

Winners will be notified by call and in writing. The first name, initial of the last name and winning ticket number of prize winner will be published online on 1 July 2024.

To claim a prize the winner must present documentation to meet the 100-point proof of identity. This equates to their current driver’s licence and passport or birth certificate. The winner must also provide their official winning raffle ticket in order to claim their prize.

The Promoter may use prize winners’ details for promotional purposes. Tickets must not be purchased by: Dementia Australia staff, its board members, executive team members, and employees who have been involved in the organisation of the raffle. During the conduct of a draw, if Dementia Australia staff (or delegate) conducting the draw is satisfied that an excluded purchaser is a prize winner, then the relevant prize will be re-drawn. If the Dementia Australia staff (or delegate) is satisfied after the conclusion of the draw but before a prize has been collected that an excluded purchaser is a prize winner, then the excluded purchaser will not be entitled to collect the prize. The decision of Dementia Australia (or delegate) will be final and binding.

In the event that there is any doubt or dispute as to the identity of the winner or as to the manner in which the prize is to be paid then the matter will be referred to Dementia Australia CEO (or delegate) for resolution.

The decision of the CEO shall be final and binding. The CEO will not be acting as an arbitrator and the CEO’s decision shall not be subject to challenge or review.
