Walking for a Cause: Honoring My Dad, Our Clients, and the 421,000 Australians Living with Dementia
Dementia is a cruel disease that affects not only those diagnosed but also their families and loved ones. It’s a cause that is deeply personal to me. My dad, Gary, had Lewy body dementia, and through my work in home care, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging and heartbreaking this journey can be.
That’s why, on Saturday, 24 May, I’m taking part in Redcliffe’s Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds in honor of my dad, our home care clients, and the 421,000 Australians currently living with dementia.
Dementia is Australia’s second-leading cause of death, and by 2058, it’s predicted that over 800,000 Australians will be living with this condition. But we can change this.
Every dollar raised will go towards Dementia Australia, helping fund vital support services like counselling, education, and research to improve lives and work towards a cure.
💜 Please consider donating to support this cause and help us reach our goal to beat dementia:
Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your support!
